To sleep or not to sleep....

That is the question...

For all of you that have owned a new puppy, I'm sure you know how hard it is to be away from him/her.

But...I totally underestimated how difficult it can be to crate train a pup!

Yeah, we'd love to have him cuddle in bed with us all night...wake up to him licking our face when he has to potty, etc. Especially since he's still so young that he's afraid to jump off the bed. But, when he's a 60+ pound dog, having him invading our bed might not be what we want. haha! We love him to death... and listening to his scream all night in his crate is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. Not to mention I haven't slept more than a couple hours in the night since we got him.

So... we're moving the crate into our room tonight. Maybe being near us will reassure him that everything is okay. But until then...we have to keep feeling guilty (and sleepy) in order to have a well trained dog later on ;)

  1. Stick to it! I think moving him will help for sure. You'll be thankful you did later down the road. I can imagine it being hard because he is so stinking cute! Just remember... great preparation for kids someday! At least with Charlie, he should be trained in a week or two. Kids take months before they sleep through the night.
